This book’s title translates literally as 'The Beginning and Ending of the Dutch East India Company'.

It was compiled by Isaac Commelin in Amsterdam and contains 21 entries by different authors, covering the fields of discovery, travel, geography, astronomy and cosmography. The book’s preface also contains a summary of some of the Dutch voyages to the East Indies.

The three-volume work includes an array of maps and plates depicting battles, hunting techniques, Dutch camps and scenes from the natural world in the East Indies and the Pacific.
