Dark Nebula first appeared in a self-published comic book, The Dynamic Dark Nebula, written and drawn by creator Tad Pietrzykowski in 1982.

When the character appeared in a new comic book series in 1989-91, Pietrzykowski remained as the writer, while Glenn Lumsden took over as artist.

The series was published by Cyclone! Comics.
