The 'I Hate Crime!' title features the irrepressible Detective Larry Kent, based on the Sydney radio series created by Ron Ingleby.

Published monthly from April 1954 by Young's Merchandising Company, the novelettes were printed in Sydney and written by a variety of authors including Don Haring and Des R Dunn. Don Haring was an American writer who temporarily lived in Australia, basing most of his adventures in an unnamed American city.

The other main contributor was Des R Dunn, a Queensland author who also wrote for Cleveland under his own name. Cleveland Publishing Co. published some four hundred Larry Kent titles, numbered 1-108 and 501-823, between 1954 and 1983.

They were so popular in Scandinavia, new editions were still being published right up to the early 1990s.
