This album of photographs of the State Library of Victoria, published by the Library in Melbourne, was presented to the Hon. Mr Justice John Starke, QC, on 25 November 1985, by members and staff of the Library Council of Victoria.

It was given in recognition of his tenure as President of the Council between 1967 and 1985.

The binding for the album was created by Ron Eadie, the founding Secretary and one-time President of the Victorian Bookbinders’ Guild.

Eadie, who was employed as a binder at the State Library of Victoria at the time, created the binding based on the design of the domed ceiling of the Library’s La Trobe Reading Room.
